The Ray-Pic waterfall, some sixty meters high and considered one of the wonders of the Ardèche, is a must-see in Péreyres.
After the Gorges de l'Ardèche, this is undoubtedly the second geological "curiosity" that should not be missed, a site that has been classified since 1931. Unlike the Gorges, which have easily accessible balconies to admire the beauty of the landscape, the Cascade du Ray-Pic must be earned. From the car park, it takes about 45 minutes of walking on a shaded path to discover the impressive basaltic flow. Indeed, this waterfall which gushes out in successive falls is the result of the activity of a volcano which died out not long ago, since prehistoric populations were able to see it rumbling - but here, opinions differ on the date of the last eruption. Today, there is no longer any risk of eruptions, but you can admire - after the effort of walking, the comfort of the coolness of the waterfall - a waterfall that falls some sixty metres along the splendid basaltic organs. One of the wonders of the Ardèche that we invite you to discover and to pronounce its name correctly - "raille pic" - in the local way. Swimming is strictly forbidden.
Très touristique car la durée de la marche est vraiment très courte.
Mais cascades très belles.
