COMMANDERIE DES TEMPLIERS DE JALÈS

This architectural ensemble is one of the oldest commanderies in Europe. It was built in 1140, then enlarged and renovated in the 18th century. All the original buildings are present. The place bears witness to the epic of the Crusades, but also to the history of military orders, from the Knights Templar to the Knights of the Order of Malta. It is also within this commandery that major and tragic events took place between 1790 and 1792, at the time of the Revolution.
