Read moreThe estate is located at the foot of the village of Rasteau between Orange and Vaison-la-Romaine and has 28 hectares of vines in several appellations of the southern Rhône Valley and occupies a prime position alongside the other famous crus of the region such as Châteauneuf du Pape and Gigondas. Coming from a family of winemakers since Jean-Marc Brun had the opportunity to create his own winery in 1999. The harvest is manual.
From its fabulous terroir, the wines of Rasteau are available in red but especially in Vins Doux Naturels.
DOMAINE DES ESCARAVAILLES
Read moreFor the record, the estate owes its name to the Occitan "escaravay", meaning beetle. Gilles Ferran tells you the history of this name, it is ancient. The vineyards extend over 40 ha in Rasteau on stony and sloping clayey-limestone hillsides and 25 ha on the neighbouring terroirs of Cairanne, Roaix, Villedieu and Saint Roman de Malegarde. The vines are cultivated in the old-fashioned way with ploughing and organic fertilizers. The wines have fruity, spicy notes and supple tannins.
DOMAINE LA SOUMADE
Read moreThe 26 hectares of La Soumade are cultivated in "reasoned" culture, are located in the commune of Rasteau and 1 hectare in terraces near Gigondas. The clay-limestone soils give naturally powerful wines, built for ageing. Harvesting is manual. The wines are made from beautifully mature grapes which are unanimously acclaimed by tasters in France and far beyond. Discover their Vin Doux Naturel Rouge or Vin Naturel Doré based on Grenache Noir, which are a real delight on chocolate or accompanying melon or foie gras.
DOMAINE DES COTEAUX DES TRAVERS
Read moreThis estate is a family affair. Robert's father had been growing vines since 1931. Today, the estate extends over 14 hectares of vines in the communes of Rasteau and Cairanne. The clay-limestone and stony soils favour fruity wines with syrah, grenache, cinsault, marsanne, rousanne, If we play on words, go taste the Côte-du-Rhône Char à vin (name of the owner declined in three words !!) with an elegant nose of black cherry, blueberry and crushed strawberry.
CAVE RHONEA
Read moreFounded in 1925, the Cave de Rasteau is one of the oldest wineries in the Rhône Valley and the first in the Rasteau appellation. The 600 ha of vines produce quality wines; yield control, vineyard management and respect for tradition are at the heart of the concerns of the winery, which owes its reputation to its prestigious crus, including Rasteau Vins Doux Naturels. In addition to free tastings, the Caveau team welcomes individual and group customers all year round for guided tours of the vineyards.
