CASTLE GARDEN VAL JOANIS
A remarkable garden on three terraces featuring Provencal vegetables, herbs, flowers, trees and rare species.
Designed in 1978 with the help of landscape architect Tobbie Loup de Viane in the spirit of 18th-century gardens, the garden, which was awarded the Jardin Remarquable label in 2005 and voted Garden of the Year in 2008, is spread over three terraces. First there's the old-fashioned kitchen garden planted with Provençal vegetables and aromatic herbs, then the flower garden and finally the area planted with trees and rare species. Access is via a pathway under an arbour overgrown with old roses, wisteria and honeysuckle.
