Authentic Italian restaurant in the center of Avignon. A transalpine journey that we strongly recommend!
Ah Italy! What a pleasure to be able to savor its specialties in the center of Avignon, away from the crowd. After the store in Carnot street "Italia Market" and its high quality Italian products, we have "Il Centro". As soon as you arrive, you appreciate the welcoming and smiling staff. The dishes are tasty, there are all the great classics: pasta with clams, homemade lasagna, rum baba... The terrace takes all its sense in summer with a large choice of wines of the boot, aperitif boards, a mozzarella bar and other splendors to discover.

This was hands down the worst Italian food experience ever. We were the only people in the restaurant and should’ve seen that as a red flag. Our meal started with flat Prosecco, followed by “green salad” which was iceberg lettuce with a drizzle of some sort of balsamic reduction. I ordered the carbona and it was watered down and the bacon was straight, inedible fat. My partner ordered the bolognaise, which was tomato sauce mixed with the same “meat” that was in my carbonara. The bread was served from a plastic container with pre-cut slices. The service was ok, but definitely would not recommend this restaurant.
