There was mouse droppings on the kitchen table, and we don’t know if we ended up eating contaminated food.
We complained multiple times over several days, but were not taken seriously.
Unfortunately the mice started to have activities in our room while we were on the room and sleeping.
Only after several calls, around 1:00 AM, they agreed to give us an another apartment. But no one came and helped with the mice. They asked us to look at it our self.
We were traveling with three children, who were scared, and we had to throw all our food away.
We lost one whole day of vacation, and all of groceries.
We got compensation of 15% which even did not cover our loss of food that we had to throw out. When we asked for more, they said that our first apartment was left unsatisfied -we left the room at middle of the night with 3 small children, and NO help what so ever from staff, and we forgot to take the sheets and towels in the bag. Really disappointed that they use this as excuse.
After many years as loyal guests, we are deeply disappointed, this ruined a large part of our holiday.
There are many nice places in the area, and also other companies with better service that rent in Cap Esterel, try those instead.
Cap Esterel is a small village in a hill, so there are a lot of stairs everywhere and there are not elevators (I don’t recommend it if you have a stroller or wheelchair).
In the village you find almost everything you need during your stay, such as restaurants, supermarket, some stores, bowling, spa, golf, mini golf, tennis and paddle courts, multisport court, kids club, 3 pools, 1 wave pool, 3 water slides, animations everyday and there is a little train that take you to the beach “Plage du debarquement” (Plage du Dramont).
The beach Plage du debarquement is a pebble beach with waves, so I don’t recommend it for kids or elderly people, if anyway you want to go, don’t forget your water shoes.
Instead I recommend to go to the beach “Plage du Pourrousset”, it’s just in front of main car entry of Cap Esterel Village. It’s a small calm sandy beach with a toilet and just a few parking places.
Regarding our room, it was for 5 people, and even if it was a little tight, it was good enough to be confortable for us.
As a returning customer to Village Cap Esterel Pierre & Vacances, having had a positive family vacation here in 2018, I booked another week with half board for myself, my wife, and my daughter. Unfortunately, this recent stay turned out to be a profound disappointment and bordered on a scam, a clear sign of a village in an obvious decline state with services that no longer match what was promised.
Accommodation: An Unwelcome Surprise and Unacceptable Conditions
I booked a studio for 4 people, trusting the website's information which proved to be unclear regarding bed arrangements. It was only a few days before departure that I was informed the room would have two bunk beds and a sofa bed. Upon arrival, the shock was immense: the room was in an evident state of neglect, with mold on the ceiling, a clogged sink, and a nauseating sewer smell from the toilet. These are unacceptable conditions for a tourist resort.
Services and Activities: An Unexpected Collapse
Compared to 2018, the resort appears to have been almost abandoned to its own devices. The golf courses are a disaster, no longer green and well-maintained but stretches of yellow, burnt, unkempt grass. The archery activity, advertised on the website, is no longer available. The possibility of dining in various restaurants, confirmed to me by phone before departure (especially "Ile d'Or"), turned out to be false: the only half-board option is the hotel's main restaurant.
Dining: Poor Quality and Absolute Monotony
This was one of the most significant issues. The disappearance of dining choices and the elimination of the "dish of the day" made half board a nightmare. The children's menu is extremely limited, forcing my daughter to eat the same few items for an entire week. Beyond the lack of variety, the quality has also plummeted: the "chicken burger" is a clear example of the use of low-quality frozen products. The service is disorganized, with improvised staff and, even more problematic, an almost complete absence of waiters who can speak English.
Management: Ineffective and Unresponsive
Every attempt to complain or find a solution with the management was futile. To a simple request to be able to dine at another restaurant, the management showed complete unresponsiveness, literally slamming doors in our faces and only offering a voucher for another Pierre & Vacances property, without resolving the ongoing vacation issue.
What I still liked: Position is very good as well as the landscapes which are incredible, also the village is well built, it's such a pity that it's bad managed. Night and day animation is also good
In summary, this vacation was completely ruined. Despite fond memories from the past, the current state of Village Cap Esterel is unacceptable and deeply disappointing. Given the current situation, it goes without saying that we will never return.
We had an amazing stay, value for money is pretty good. The room was small, and slightly dated but we had booked a sea view & that didn’t disappoint. The setting is incredible, it’s a beautiful holiday park. Selection of restaurants is slightly limited and I wouldn’t say any of them are amazing, however they are fine. The Pool area is brilliant, staff attentive & no towel or flip flop reservation on sunbeds allowed. We have a 2 & 4 year old and I would say it’s not the most child friendly place, lots of steps & trip hazards just lots of carrying needed! Overall we had an amazing stay & would return again one day.
Local supermarket is well stocked & plenty of little bakery’s & ice cream shops. Not sure about entertainment, we stayed up most night to around 10pm with the kids but didn’t see any entertainment available, maybe we were too early in the season.
