Hedi Zahaf, who initiated the project and is himself a rural guard in Bargemon, pays tribute to these professionals of public order in rural areas in thefirst museum in the world dedicated to this profession that appeared in the 18th century. A plunge into popular history that begins here with Martin's welcome at the museum entrance. Wearing his bicorn hat, an armband with the imperial eagle of theFirst Empire and his sabre, this mannequin "garde champêtre" of the First Empire wears the uniform that was worn from 1791 until the 1950s.
