Created in 1992, this museum is housed in the house that Michel de Nostredame, better known as Nostradamus, bought in 1547 with his second wife Anne Ponsard, of whom he had six children. And lived there until his death. It was here that he completed all his works, some of which are still famous today: The Treatise on Spices and Jams, The Prophecies, The Paraphrase of Galen, but also the famous Almanac, a collection of so-called astrological predictions for the year. Honoured with the label "Maison d'écrivain et de patrimoines littéraires" (House of writers and literary heritage) since 2006, the museum offers a 45-minute audio-guided tour to discover this 16th century "astrophilic" doctor, a brilliant mind who was a scientist, a philosopher, a poet and a visionary, and who rubbed shoulders with the greatest figures of his time: Rabelais, Catherine de Médicis, Charles IX, Adam de Craponne, and others. Temporary exhibitions also highlight the various facets of the character by revealing original documents from the 16th century, objects, etc. A truly fascinating visit, as much for the esotericists as for the simply curious! Also, just a stone's throw from the museum, at the Nostradamus Centre, there are many educational workshops (illumination, astronomy...): your children will love them! Finally, in the heart of the Château de l'Empéri, a visit to the Jardin des simples de Nostradamus will enlighten you about the plants used by Nostradamus in the composition of the medicines he used effectively against the plague.
