An ornithological park that covers more than 60 hectares. What to take full of eyes and bring back memories!
Located on the road to Arles, 4 kilometers north of Les Saintes-Maries, this ornithological park was born in 1949 with the installation of the first aviaries by André Lamouroux. Today, the story continues thanks to the work of his son and grandchildren, who are now in charge of sixty hectares (the park originally measured 6,000 m²). In this natural area, there are two walks through the ponds and marshes to get as close as possible to the birds, without disturbing them. The first, very wild, is called "Sentier du nord". It offers a fairly complete view of the diversity of the Camargue, thanks in particular to a judiciously placed observatory where you can discover teal, mallards, shelducks and geese at your leisure. There's also a good density of birds of prey, including migratory and sedentary herons, rails, grosbeaks and finches, as well as coypu. The second winds its way between two ponds occupied by a large colony of pink flamingos, which can be approached at close quarters. In fact, they're the stars of the show, as tourists love to take selfies with them. Between these two paths, a large educational area, illustrated with large, attractive descriptive boards, offers a succession of aviaries housing large, injured or disabled birds. There's plenty to see, and plenty to remember!

Wir haben viele schöne Vögel beobachtet!

An der Kasse kann man Feldstecher ausleihen.
Achtung: am Kiosk kann man nur mit Bargeld bezahlen.
Uhrzeit: Wir empfehlen einen Besuch am Nachmittag (so gegen 16 Uhr) - zu der Uhrzeit war weniger los und man hatte das Gefühl, den Park fast für sich zu haben.
Unbedingt mitbringen (wenn man gegen Mittag/Nachmittag kommt): Sonnenhut (es gibt wenig Schatten), Sonnenschutzmittel und Wasser! Ggf. auch ein kleines Picknick - es gibt genug Picknickstätten, um Pause zu machen. Außerdem auch ein Fernglas, um die Vögel ganz nah sehen zu können!
Mücken: wir hatten den Eindruck, dass es nicht viele Mücken gab und hatten am Ende des Tages keinen einzigen Stich (Juli). Trotzdem lohnt es sich, ein Mückenspray mitzunehmen.
Gut zu wissen: Uns wurde beim Eintritt gesagt, dass man auch spät nachmittags kommen und bis nach 18 Uhr dableiben kann, da man den Park immer eigenständig verlassen kann!
Dauer: Es gibt 2 unterschiedliche Wege. Für den kürzeren Weg, den wir genommen haben, braucht man etwa 1-1.5 Stunden. Dann gibt es noch einen zweiten, der um einen anderen Teich führt und noch länger ist. Man kann beide machen, muss es aber nicht. Die Flamingos sieht man auf jeden Fall auch auf dem ersten Weg (direkt beim reinkommen). :)
