GMEM (CENTRE NATIONAL DE LA CREATION MUSICALE)
The Group, which will be officially called GMEM (Marseille Experimental Music Group) in 1972, was founded in 1969 from the electroacoustic music class of the National Conservatory of Marseille. In 1997, the GMEM became the National Centre for Musical Creation, by decision of the Ministry of Culture, and held since October 1999 the Workshop/Studio, a new area of rehearsal and dissemination room, studios and administrative offices. In May 2008, extension of premises: opening of the annex "At the top of the staircase" grouping several spaces, including accommodation. The GMEM organizes contemporary music concerts in the electroacoustic, mixed or instrumental vein. In its mediation action, the GMEM promotes access to concerts and shows to all audiences through its pricing policy, proposes meetings and exchanges with festival artists and companies and composers in residence, open days, actions towards disadvantaged audiences… Several concerts, recitals and meetings take place throughout the year.
