Visit of the prefecture in Marseille, built in the perfect perspective of the Saint-Férreol street
The imposing building of the Prefecture was built at the end of the 19th century, in the perfect setting of the rue Saint-Férreol. Under the aegis of the Senator de Maupas, close to Napoleon III, Marseille underwent a real urban planning revolution. What could be considered as a palace impresses by its size. Two wings around a central building for 7,500 m2 of surface area. The style of the facade is quite classical of the time, the few statues that decorate the Prefecture represent first-rate Provencal figures such as the Roy René, Belsunce or the Chevalier Roze. The interiors are also incredibly rich in decoration
