The public assistance of the Marseille hospitals with its CHU, its four hospitals, and more than 80 operating rooms is the most important hospital in the region. A vital Economic Force for the Department, it is the first employer in PACA. At several sites in the city, more than 12 000 employees, 1 900 doctors are organized into professional categories and specialties. Centres of care, training, research, prevention, health education as many separate missions spread across a broad urban perimeter: La, North Hospital, South (Sainte-Marguerite and Salvator) and finally the Design with the standard of telephone hosting now manages the call platform. The centralization of requests allowing the user to enter more effectively in contact with the requested service. The constantly evolving geographical coverage aims at a better deployment of medical specialities (adults, children), closer proximity care and more rapid care of rare diseases. Since 14 November 2014, general adult emergencies are located at the Timone 2, entrance Bd Jean Moulin. There is no more general emergency service at the Conception Hospital.
