PAVILLON DE LA REINE JEANNE
Elegant Renaissance corner pavilion built by Jeanne de Quiqueran. A site to discover in Baux-de-Provence.
In the valley of the Fountain, near the old wash house, stands an elegant Renaissance corner pavilion, built by Jeanne de Quiqueran, wife of Honoré des Martins, Baron of Les Baux from 1568 to 1581. A decorative structure, it adorned a garden belonging to the des Baux family, known as the "Count's Garden" or "King's Orchard". Legend calls it the "Pavilion of Queen Jeanne" and Frédéric Mistral had a replica made for his tomb in Maillane.
