This castle is the third residence of the first Capetians after the Louvre and Vincennes.
This residence, celebrated in the preface to Lettres de mon Moulin, was first and foremost a place of serenity and tranquility for writer Alphonse Daudet: "Maison bénie, que de fois je suis venu là, me reprendre à la nature, me guérir de Paris et de ses fièvres." This holiday resort, distinguished by its early 19th-century gabled facade, is now a museum. On the1st floor, you'll find medieval archeological collections discovered on site, which speak of the château before Daudet.
