Aix-en-Provence history museum housed in a townhouse, with a variety of collections on display.
In 1932, the town's history museum was created in a 17th-century town house. A majestic wrought-iron staircase and colorful decorations are just some of the features on display. The collections, built up from donations made by the museum's founder, Marie d'Estienne de Saint-Jean, evoke Aix's past. Furniture, earthenware, santons, craftsmen's objects and talking crib puppets are all on display. Another highlight of the museum is a modello by Gaulli, a model of his design for the baptistery of St. Peter's in Rome.
