THE HOT WATER FOUNTAIN
The thermal water fountain was built by the architect Fossé in 1666. It stands in the middle of the Cours Mirabeau.
More commonly known as the Fontaine Moussue. Built by the architect Jacques Fossé in 1666, it is one of 3 fountains on the Cours Mirabeau and is located in the middle of the boulevard. Its special feature is its warm water from the Bagniers thermal spring, which is shrouded in mist in winter. Once adorned with a newt, green moss has colonized the building to such an extent that you can no longer see the stone, only the base. This thermal water is not drinkable, however. A symbol of Aix, often referred to as "the city of a thousand fountains"!
