Atelier des Lauves with major works of art in Aix-en-Provence, offering a possibility of discovery of this timeless place

A shelf on the wall, a table, an easel... It was in this small house with its bare furnishings that Paul Cézanne used to lock himself away when the weather forced him to stray from the slopes of Sainte Victoire or the banks of the Arc. During the last years of his life, the painter created major works here, which are now scattered throughout the world. The "Grandes Baigneuses" and the "Jardinier Vallier" came out of this studio. Come and discover this timeless place.

C'est petit, donc assez vite visité, mais c'est vraiment très intéressant. On entre dans l'intimité artistique du peintre. Il y a des éléments surprenants (une très grande "encoche" dans le mur pour pouvoir sortir les toiles monumentales, p. ex.). Les personnes présentes sont serviables et donnent volontiers les renseignements nécessaires. Parking compliqué, donc il vaut mieux y aller à pied.

Petite maison avec jardinet. Au 1er étage on peut voir la pièce ou il travaillait et tout son matériel est resté tel que si bien que l'atmosphère d'un atelier de peinture est bien présent.
