Thermal baths with swimming pool, the last vestige of Aix's medieval walls, with water from Sainte-Victoire.
Bordered by the Tourreluque river, this site is the last vestige of Aix's medieval walls. Legend has it that the waters of the Sextius thermal baths come from Sainte-Victoire. Naturally warm (36°C) and mineralized, they are captured in the heart of Aix, on the very site where the Roman general Caius Sextius founded the Aquae Sextiae thermal baths. The current building stands on the exact site of the former Roman baths, destroyed in the 19th century. Excavations have uncovered a thermal pool that can be seen in the entrance to the current building, a happy marriage of 18th-century architecture and ultramodern facilities adapted to today's comfort and requirements.
