The restaurant Le Grillon with its must-see terrace. Quality welcome and service, with classic à la carte dishes.
This is the must-visit terrace on the Cours Mirabeau (especially since the 2G, currently undergoing renovation, has closed) for its location and for the quality of the warm, friendly welcome. Service is always impeccable, with a brasserie menu featuring the classics - steak tartare or entrecôte frites, omelette, paupiette de veau, boudin aux 2 pommes, Friday aioli - and daily suggestions such as magret de canard, a real treat! The terrace is very pleasant in all seasons, and the historic dining room on the second floor is a great place to come at any time of day, whether for a coffee in the morning or an aperitif in the evening.

Wir sind, von einer Ausstellung im Hotel de Caumont kommend, durch Zufall im Grillon gelandet, haben dort in der ersten Etage Platz genommen, und waren sehr von dem angenehmen Ambiente begeistert!
Kassettenwände, Malereien, Stuck und ein großer Lüster dominieren den Raum, es hat sich ersichtlich (und Gott sei Dank) seit Gründung des Cafés wenig verändert.
Wir haben Wasser, eine Kleinigkeit zu Essen (Planche de Charcuterie und einen Salade de Chevre Chaud) und Kaffee bestellt. Alles war in akzeptabler Qualität und entsprach unserer Erwartungshaltung.
Um es klar zu sagen: wer in so einem Lokal mehr als Mitelmaß erwartet, ist hier falsch.
Das kann und das will das Grillon nicht leisten. Und das muß es auch nicht. Weil es so oder so, siehe mein Einleitungssatz, gut besucht wird.
Unser Kellner hatte reichlich zu tun!
An seiner Arbeitsleistung gab es dennoch nichts zu mäkeln. Er war aufmerksam, schnell und (relativ) freundlich.
Wir waren alles in allem zufrieden und können das Grillon jedem empfehlen, der ein schönes Ambiente zu schätzen weiß und mit seinen Ansprüchen auf dem Boden bleibt / nicht zu viel, bzw. etwas falsches erwartet.
