This hotel is perfectly located in the heart of town, making it easy to explore local attractions on foot. The rooftop pool offers stunning views, and the generous breakfast selection was a fantastic.||

Loved this hotel. Stayed here with my sister for 4 days . great location , wonderful rooftop bar with pool and lovely guy Luke who ran the roof top bar in the day . good energy and very welcoming. Thanks Luke. |We had dinner here 1 night and I can honestly say it was the best meal we had in Nice . Will definitely be back

We visit Nice every year and stayed in the Aston La Scala for the first time in 2024.||Based on that experience we booked again for this year. Whilst the stay was still very enjoyable, we don’t think it was quite up to the standard we saw last year. The positives;||The hotel is in an excellent location near Place Masséna, close to the Promenade de Anglais, shopping districts, and old town. Even the train station and port are both walkable in about 20 minutes.||Our room, and the entire hotel, is always spotlessly clean, and we often saw cleaning staff working.||Our ‘Privilege’ room was spacious, stylish, light, and well appointed. Plenty of wardrobe space although we did have to ask for extra hangers which were delivered promptly. The bed was comfy and we slept really well. This was helped by the electric blackout blinds which worked perfectly. Air conditioning was excellent and worked well throughout our stay. ||Bathroom was huge. Shower was good and always plenty of hot water when we needed it. The towels were fluffy and clean. This is certainly an improvement on last year when the towels were a bit old and worn.||The hotel has a rooftop bar which we visited every evening. It affords excellent views of Nice. The service, drinks, and food were excellent without exception. There is also live music in the evening and I have to say it was very enjoyable.||The breakfast area was spacious and wasn’t ever too busy. Plenty of choice in terms of hot and cold options and all the food was pretty good. There was one morning where the service was a little chaotic and some of the cooked options weren’t replenished for about 15 minutes. Far too long to wait. ||Last year, the best thing about the hotel was the staff because everyone was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. This year, they didn’t reach the same standard. For example, we asked a member of the reception team (a young, blonde man) if we could have a couple of extra pillows. He acted as if I’d asked him to move a mountain. He was dismissive and told me “he’d see what he could do”. I knew he wouldn’t bother and unsurprisingly, we never did get those pillows. I thought this was extremely poor service from a long established 4* hotel. I’m sure I’d have got those pillows if I’d asked Michel or decided to have a moan, but frankly I couldn’t be bothered. ||It was still a very enjoyable stay and we might well return. However, I didn’t consider other hotels before booking this year, but I probably will look at other hotels before booking again for next year.

Room (Stayed in Room 517):
The view from the room was excellent, and the space was generous. Daily housekeeping did a very good job. However, maintenance was lacking—there was mold in the shower, not enough hangers, and the safe was placed inconveniently close to the floor. The air conditioning was weak, and despite calling maintenance twice, it was never resolved.

Breakfast:
Outstanding breakfast with a wide variety of options and friendly staff. The only issue was the lack of order around the boiled egg station—some guests did not respect the queue. Nevertheless, we strongly recommend the breakfast.

Hotel Location:
Perfect location—close to everything, with a tram stop just steps away. Ideal for exploring the city.

Hotel Conditions:
Unfortunately, maintenance is a serious concern. Many areas of the building feel abandoned. The rooftop pool was very dirty, lobby furniture was damaged, and the overall organization was poor. The hotel has great potential but needs better management and upkeep.

Rooftop Bar/Restaurant:
While the rooftop view is beautiful, the food was mediocre and took a long time to arrive. Most installations need urgent maintenance. The quality of drinks was also disappointing and needs improvement.

Conclusion:
Despite the issues, we enjoyed our stay and would consider returning. We recommend the hotel for its location and views, but management needs to urgently address the maintenance and organizational problems.
