In these magnificent washhouses, over three centuries old, fresh, clear water flows, fed by local springs. They have been worn and polished by the little hands of thousands of washerwomen, who have done so many washes "with ashes". Since the 1970s, with the advent of modernization, they are no longer in use, but remain historical witnesses to a bygone era. The Town Hall has undertaken a restoration project, with high-level wood cladding, ceiling panelling and appropriate lighting to enhance the site.
