FALAISE TROGLODYTE

Overlooking the Creuse valley, this cliff, made of chalk, shelters an ancient troglodyte village. In the past, it allowed the inhabitants to protect themselves from invasions, especially during the medieval period and the Hundred Years War. One can admire the grotto of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, intended for people who could not make the pilgrimage to Lourdes. In the surroundings, the setting is magnificent, and many hikes are possible. A highly recommended stop for history lovers.
