Located northeast of Poitiers, the commune of Saint-Rémy-sur-Creuse is part of the Communauté d'agglomération du Grand Châtellerault. The most impressive thing about the village is the chalk cliffs, with their troglodyte holes, overlooking the Creuse valley. Probably inhabited since the Magdalenian period, it is in 1189 that Richard the Lionheart founded the village. The caves were used as a refuge during the invasions, notably those of the French, when Saint-Rémy depended on the English crown. They were then occupied by weavers. The site should be partially rehabilitated this year by the Chalopy association.
