CHÂTEAU DE MARSAY
A modest chateau that has evolved over time and features large skylights and uniform ceiling heights, this is a site worth visiting
Château de Marsay, overlooking the Thouet and the ancient Luguet lookout, occupies a strategic site inhabited since at least the XIIᵉ century. Initially a modest fortified castle, it evolved over time. The current edifice, built between 1711 and 1718 thanks to the dowry of the Marquise de Montespan, retains some vestiges of the past: postern, three surrounding towers, fuie and ironwork from the XIVᵉ/XVᵉ century. In the XVIIᵉ style, it features large skylights and a uniform ceiling height. Its interior, redecorated under Napoleon III, has nevertheless retained its superb original baluster staircase.
