The Château de Javarzay features a modern, multimedia museography. The museum focuses on three themes: 19th-century hairstyles and feminine elegance (from fashion to techniques from here and elsewhere), from which you'll be able to take home an amusing digital postcard from the "coiffomaton"; the history of Château de Javarzay; and the life and work of the brilliant industrialist Jean-François Cail, a native of Chef-Boutonne and inventor, among other things, of the1st high-speed train.

Opening time and information on MUSÉE DU CHÂTEAU DE JAVARZAY
March to end of May and October (excluding vacations): Saturdays 2pm to 5:30pm, Sundays 10am to 12:30pm and 2pm to 5:30pm. Easter and All Saints' Day vacations: daily from 2pm to 5:30pm. June to September: daily (except Tuesday) 10am to 1pm and 1:45pm to 6pm. Free for children under 10. Adults: €8. Children (aged 11 to 18): €6. Group (10 people): €6. Families: €20 (2 adults + 2 or more children).

The Château de Javarzay museum in Chef-Boutonne invites you to immerse yourself in the extraordinary destiny of Jean-François Cail, one of the 19th century's captains of industry. From child prodigy to one of the most eminent business leaders of the Industrial Revolution. The museum offers a variety of experiences, including a video on the endangered craft of lingerie-making, and a hairdressing booth where you can take home a fun and unique souvenir. As you explore the museum, you can also enjoy a mysterious audio immersion in the history of the château, thanks to a virtual 3D model illustrating its architecture. Add to this a narrated film on the life of Jean-François Cail, an interactive world map showing the extent of his industrial empire, and a virtual tour of the museography via a virtual reality headset. A captivating cultural site to discover!
