This church, located near the halles, is now a listed historic monument.
Just a stone's throw from the 14th-century halles, Mornac's fortified church was built in the 12th century on the site of an ancient Merovingian sanctuary. Although time has washed away traces of the keep and fortifications, this monument still bears witness to the village's prosperity in medieval times. Today, the church is still renowned for its Latin cross floor plan, semi-circular chevet and curious barlong dome - an extremely rare feature in Saintonge. It is now a listed monument.

L'Eglise Saint-Pierre à Mornac-sur-Seudre
L'Eglise Saint-Pierre à Mornac-sur-Seudre est une église romane présentant certains traits hérités en grande partie du Moyen Age. Son clocher en est une caractéristique. La façade, d'une grande sévérité, date du XV ème siècle. Des sarcophages mérovingiens, mis au jour au cours des fouilles menées aux abords de l'église, sont exposés près du chevet et du mur nord. C'est un bâtiment impressionnant dont l'intérieur m'a également semblé plutôt grandiose.

cette belle église romane mérite qu'on y prenne un peu de temps pour en faire le tour à l'extérieur et à l'intérieur où on pourra remarquer des restes de peintures et également un très beau bénitier
