THE DOLMEN OF THE MAD STONE

This megalithic construction would date from the ^2nd or ^3rd millennium before our era. According to the legend, some people would have even seen it spinning on itself one Christmas Eve! This funerary monument is in any case the most imposing of the Charente-Maritime. Classified as a Historic Monument in 1889 after having escaped destruction, it is 16 m long and if we are to believe the experts, the sandstone slabs were all extracted in the immediate vicinity of the site.
