FEODAL CASTLE OF MONTGUYON

Now in ruins, this medieval monument stands out for its keep and the main building still proudly standing. Yet the château has a long history, dating back to the ^13th century. It passed through the hands of the de La Rochefoucauld and de Rohan families, and was also the residence of Louis XIII. Work on the château has uncovered a number of remains, including the moat and the base of the walls. The château now serves as the backdrop for the Festival de musiques et danses populaires.
