COGNAC PIERRE DE SEGONZAC

Winery

This cognac house isn't new. In 1702, Jacques Ferrand was already a ploughman and wine-grower-distiller in Biard, a locality in the commune of Segonzac. Today, the family vineyard is located in Nérolle, still in the commune of Segonzac. With the teaching of his ancestors, the young Pablo Ferrand perpetuates the tradition and only negotiates old cognacs and pineau made as in the past. Pierre Ferrand, Pablo's grandfather who created the Pierre de Segonzac brand, started distilling in the 1960s. L'Ancestrale is an exceptional cup of brandy, as the oldest dates back to 1924. This eau-de-vie was distilled by Pierre Ferrand's grandparents, who used it in the 1990s to make his Ancestrale. Pierre de Segonzac's youngest blends have a minimum of four years for VSOPs before being marketed. Two cognacs (the XO Sélection des Anges and the XO Extra) each won a gold medal in 2015 at the International Wine Challenge which takes place every year in Bordeaux.
