MEDIAEVAL CITY
The city center of Confolens has an undeniable medieval atmosphere, with cobbled streets, half-timbered houses
Wedged between Vienna and Goire, the town centre of Confolens exudes an undeniable medieval atmosphere. In this maze of alleys, sometimes paved and often steep, there is no lack of architectural curiosities, from half-timbered houses to stair towers and the commandery of the hospitaliers. Some streets have evocative names: be careful not to get lost in the steep Rue Casse-Cou! It's best to wear sturdy shoes when walking the streets of the city. At the bend in some streets, you'll discover charming houses nestled under a bridge, with solid doors that remind you of times gone by. The strollers will also discover "la Salle", a former courtroom of the 13th century whose facade faces the church of Saint-Maxime, as well as the remains of the keep (11th century).
