Often redesigned and rebuilt, this old castle dominates the town of Montbron and recalls the stories of the town's rich past.
The lordship of Montbron would have been founded under ChilpericI, grandson of Clovis, by one of his servants, named Berulphe in 567. Of course, nothing remains of its first wooden construction, just as nothing remains of the 9th century fortress. Following a destruction ordered by King Charles VII, the castle was refurbished in the 15th century by the cousin of King FrançoisI. Take advantage of the events to discover its polygonal tower, the two frescos of the Renaissance. In summer: the temporary exhibition rooms (sculpture, painting, crafts...).
