OLD CASTLE

The lordship of Montbron would have been founded under Chilperic^I, grandson of Clovis, by one of his servants, named Berulphe in 567. Of course, nothing remains of its first wooden construction, just as nothing remains of the 9th century fortress. Following a destruction ordered by King Charles VII, the castle was refurbished in the 15th century by the cousin of King François^I. Take advantage of the events to discover its polygonal tower, the two frescos of the Renaissance. In summer: the temporary exhibition rooms (sculpture, painting, crafts...).
