Originally from the island of Reunion, we decided in 2020 to leave our island and settle in Charente to reconnect with Bernard's Charente roots.
We fell in love with Domaine de Pladuc, a 19th-century mansion and former wine estate located in Petite Champagne in Lachaise, a village of 300 inhabitants some twenty kilometers from Cognac.
After a major renovation of the house, acquired in September 2020, we launched our bed & breakfast, Réunionnaise table d'hôtes and wedding and seminar reception business on August 1, 2021.
We organize regular events to make it a place to live, welcome and share with visitors: a Christmas market, the 2nd edition of which in 2024 attracted 400 visitors, who were able to do their end-of-year shopping with local craftsmen and producers showcasing the heritage assets of the two Charentes regions (honey, truffles, foie gras, saffron, ceramics, cookies, etc.), as well as Open Days on different themes, such as the one held on September 15, 2024 to celebrate the arrival of Autumn.
Nestled in 8,000 m2 of parkland through which the Ne River flows, the property exudes incomparable charm and offers a pastoral setting for wedding ceremonies or receptions by the river, in the shade of century-old poplars or by the swimming pool.
The 5 guest rooms, each with its own bathroom, are spacious (from 24 to 54 m2) and feature a tastefully selected décor, the fruit of our cross-fertilization: Indian chests, Chinese furniture, tamarind wood bookcases from the Hauts de La Réunion region and paintings by Reunionese painter André Béton sit happily alongside beautiful walnut or scabious elm wardrobes and the works of contemporary painter Etienne de Grati, who created an original painting of the Domaine in the magnificent entrance hall. For a cosy atmosphere conducive to escape and relaxation!
Cultivating a sense of hospitality, our table d'hôtes is Réunionese. Whether it's sausage rougail, chicken curry or cod rougail, the dishes concocted by Bernard will take you on a voyage of discovery.
To promote our dual culture of Charente and Reunion, we're offering visitors a unique and original wine-tourism experience: a Samoussas - Cognac Accord Gourmand. This 2.5-hour experience, which must be booked in advance, begins with the history of Domaine de Pladuc, built in 1870 and home to 3 generations of the Pissot family, "bouilleur de cru" until the 1960s. Visitors will then learn how samoussas are made, from cutting the dough to baking, stuffing and folding, awakening all the senses to the subtle aromas of coriander spice.
To round off this immersive experience, visitors are invited to taste the samoussas they've made, accompanied by 3 specially selected Cognac varieties (VS, VSOP and XO).
During your stay, you can take advantage of wellness services (massage, sophrology, reflexology) to let go and relax.
We look forward to welcoming you,
Shandra and Bernard
