State-owned forest open to sports, simple country walks and wildlife...

Between La Rochefoucauld and Angoulême, the Braconne forest stretches over 4,000 ha, part of which is occupied by the military base.

The forest is located in an area of fissured Jurassic limestone (the La Rochefoucauld karst). This state-owned forest is open to sport (fitness trails, hiking trails, mountain biking), to simple bucolic walks to discover the flora and fauna, or to the discovery of deep chasms and astonishing pits (trou des Duffaits, grand-fosse, fosse mobile, fosse limousine...).

Located close to home, this forest is a place that I course regularly for long walks on foot, especially in summer when the weather is hot. Not bad walkers there are met and mushroom mountain biking and many researchers during growth, the fauna and flora of this forest is very diverse you can also see deer and wild boar. It is a place that I like many and I try to discover with my friends by reduce them for example at the bottom of the grand pit which is a natural curiosity (chasm collapse of under limestone floor).

If you are planning there do not hesitate you can stop to enjoy a breath of fresh air.
