Castle built by Jourdain I, with 4 round towers, ceilings with coats of arms of the Chabanais princes and Renaissance furniture

East of Chabanais, the castle of Rochebrune raises its four round towers and shelters memories of the Napoleonic campaigns of General Comte du Pont, former owner of the place. Built by Jordan I, lord of Chabanais, before his departure for the first crusade (late 11th century), its function was essentially defensive. Nowadays, the throwing of arrows and boiling oil are becoming rarer. One comes especially to admire the Renaissance and Empire furniture decorating the various rooms. The current inhabitants are the descendants of the general of Empire Dupont, who was the purchaser of the castle in 1805.

To see: the dining room, the coat of arms room, the ceilings painted and decorated with the coats of arms of the Chabanese princes and the stone fireplace from the end of the 16th century.

Personally I have much like this visit! It is a very beautiful castle with instart from Rochefoucault, really plunges you into the daily life of the medieval era but more of the first empire! The guided tour in more was very successful, full of anecdotes, humour and passion! I will get there with other people of my family for it!
