THE BINOT BRIDGE
Go there and contact
Roman bridge at Esse, crossing the Issoire towards Brillac.
Travelers using this bridge of Roman origin were often robbed... by the devil, it seems, hence its nickname of Devil's Bridge. To overcome this curse, the bridge was reinforced with stones from Lesterps Abbey, and the devil has not reappeared since.
This granite ashlar bridge, which rests on four arches, was called Pont Bicot, Biscot or even Birot in the 19th century. Located between Esse and Brillac, the Binot bridge spans the Issoire river, on the ancient route of the Roman road.
