BUREAU NATIONAL INTERPROFESSIONNEL DU COGNAC
The BNIC is an interprofessional organization, whose aim is to promote and protect the cognac appellation of origin in France and internationally. It is also a forum for consultation and decision-making for all professionals in the cognac sector. It represents the general interest of the 4,300 winegrowers, 280 merchants and 120 distillers who make up the appellation. The BNIC, headed by the newly appointed Raphaël Delpech, has the particularity of carrying out a public service mission on behalf of the State in addition to the missions devolved to all the interprofessions : the control of the ageing of cognac eaux-de-vie. Another specific feature is that the BNIC is the only inter-professional body recognized as a Defense and Management Organization, and monitors the specifications of the AOC cognac, thus reinforcing its mission to protect the appellation.
