FRANCO-AUSTRALIAN MUSEUM OF VILLERS-BRETONNEUX
Museum illustrating the links between Villers-Bretonneux and Australia since the First World War. Visit illustrated by archives.
Completely renovated in 2016, this museum illustrates the links between Villers Bretonneux and Australia since the First World War, and this night of April 24-25, 1918, where the Australian army stopped the German advance on Hill 104. The visit takes place in four stages illustrated by personal objects of soldiers, but also by archival images and moving testimonies of this Franco-Australian friendship: memory of the place, memory of war, memory of the men and memory of the city. At the midway point, you can contemplate the inscription on the pre-school Victoria school just next to «Do not forget Australia» (let's never forget Australia), symbolizing the wish of duty of memory and recognition. The museum also features a beautiful souvenir shop.
