The Cité Souterraine de Naours, dug out by local inhabitants over the centuries, served as a refuge during wars and invasions, known as "muches" (hiding places in Picardy). Comprising 28 galleries and 300 chambers, it was inhabited from the Middle Ages to the 17th century, before being rediscovered in 1887.
