Cimetière de la Madeleine in Amiens, a romantic place with aromatic trees and surprising and moving graves
Cimetière de la Madeleine is famous throughout France for its beauty and because it is the tomb of Jules Verne, the pride of all Samarans. As you approach his grave, you can observe a representation of the author lifting the stone from his tomb to free himself from it. The epitaph underlines this desire for freedom: "Towards immortality and eternal youth". One is almost embarrassed to find the romantic place, with its mixed tree species and its sometimes surprising and moving tombs (eleven of them are listed).

Je vous conseille les visites guidées avec la personne qui est passionnée par ce cimetière. Elle effectue ces visites depuis des années. Elle connait tout ainsi que bon nombre d'anecdotes et le prix est très raisonnable.
I visited the cemetery madeleine during Heritage Day, and I have a good memory. The setting is magnificent, more than a cemetery is like a ride through a landscape exit of a romantic painting, with its trees, its paths winding... in more you can admire tombs including that of Jules Verne. I strongly recommend it.
