The beautifully decorated towers are the only remaining vestiges of the château des sires d'Airaines, which was destroyed during the French Revolution.
They're part of the town's claim to fame! These two 17th-century posterns are the only remaining vestiges of the château des sires d'Airaines, which was destroyed during the French Revolution. They stand proudly at one of the highest points in the town, in a listed site. It's a magnificent setting, which the town council takes advantage of by organizing a variety of events, such as the Floralies, a vast flower market in May. An urban spectacle that's sure to justify a detour on your itinerary!

Nous imaginions pouvoir photographier les tours qui sont situées au sommet d'un terrain herbeux. Bien entendu, nous ne savions pas que c'était le jour des floralies, qui occupent tout l'espace ! Nous avons eu du mal à trouver où nous garer, mais après une petite marche, nous avons pu accéder aux tours, et tester notre habileté au stand de tir à l'arc opportunément installé à l'endroit de la cour du château. C'est un très beau vestige de château, la commune possède là un joyau rare.
