Gerberoy was a favorite spot of the illustrious post-impressionist painter Henri Le Sidaner.
Illustrious post-impressionist painter Henri Le Sidaner moved to Gerberoy in 1901. The location reflected his desire to settle in a rural setting conducive to his inspiration, following the example of his friend Claude Monet in Giverny. In 1904, he bought the property to set up his own painting studio. In the ruins of an ancient fortified castle, he laid out a superb Italian garden with three levels of terraces. Thanks to the efforts of Étienne Le Sidaner, the painter's grandson, the gardens can now be visited, providing an insight into the artist's world.
