The Ascq 1944 Memorial pays tribute to the 86 civilians massacred during the Second World War in Ascq by soldiers of the 12th SS division during the night of 1er to 2 April 1944. Period documents (photos, press clippings...) retrace this dark history. It is a place of reflection on the ability of man to violence, and on the weakness of the human being in the face of fanaticism. It is also a way of delivering a message of action for peace, tolerance and brotherhood. In short, a tribute to the past and a hope for the future.

Alle 5 Jahre am 1/2.April (jetzt 2024 wieder!) findet eine Gedenkfeier statt, die an das fürchterliche Massaker erinnert.
Ein Trauerzug führt durch die Stadt wobei oft Kinder 86 Fackeln tragen, die an die Ermordeten erinnern..
Bilder der Opfer werden auf den Gedenkstein projeziert um sie ins Gedächtnis zu bringen...
Wer in der Nähe von Lille ist sollte diesen Ort und das Museum besuchen..
