A local institution and a very popular newspaper. Created in 1944 to replace the newspaper L'Ouest-Eclair (1899), the daily Ouest-France is the world's leading French-language daily. More than 742,000 copies are sold every day, mainly distributed in Brittany, Basse-Normandie and Pays-de-la-Loire (distribution spread over about a dozen departments).
