Despite its unwelcoming facade, Nouvelle Asie has the merit, like its sister establishments, of offering a very wide range of products required for exotic cuisine. The fruit and vegetable section offers fresh herbs such as Chinese basil, as well as the inevitable sweet potatoes, papayas, plantains, manioc... For the uninitiated, rambutan, bobolo, chikwangue, taro and anone are even visual and/or culinary curiosities. For lovers of West Indian cuisine, christophines are also available. The frozen food section is also well stocked, with bags of egg rolls, samoussas, fish and coconut mochis. Indian and Reunionese products are also on offer, and even French products, as this local grocery store helps out the neighborhood on Sundays and late at night. It's a pity that the place isn't conducive to exchanges of cultures, recipes and smiles, as the welcome is often restrained.
