The best of Anjou gastronomy awaits you here! Specialties include rillauds, Le Vinaillou cookies and Quernons d'ardoise. But also other culinary treasures like Pavés du bout du monde, delicious puff pastry and fleur de sel bites, a tasty chicken terrine with Cointreau or appetizing Loire smoked eel fillets. There's also a fine selection of organic products such as terrines and crackers, as well as soaps and eau de toilette made with rose extracts from Doué-la-Fontaine.

In the heart of the city, we only saw Markets Plus set up here and there, all past Carrefour City since. The competitor, well present in Angers through large areas, was eager to share the trade cake of proximity and this Little Casino mystery alone on the corner of the great boulevards. The tram now serves it, in this neighbourhood without food stores, if it is not place of the Visitation. In the meantime, it's nice to be able to go shopping without car or simply to buy the forgotten butter carton in this pleasant shop.

It's not just ice creams and sorbets that are sold here... With some twenty flavors, each more delicious than the last, Olivier Onfroy is first and foremost a merchant of happiness! A true artisanal ice-cream maker, as expert in classic flavours as in the most original. We fall for his lead recipe, but also for the rose, violet, tiramisu, peach-hibiscus iced tea, rhubarb or peanut and fleur de sel flavors. All served in cones, jars or to-go tubs (remember to order in advance!)

Established since 2012 in Saint-Georges-sur-Loire (store and workshop), Anthony and Isabelle Begou now offer their chocolates to a city-center clientele who should soon be hooked on their sublime morsels: Gianduja, fleur de sel, coconut, crêpe bretonne, arabica, ginger, rocher... the recipes abound! Or 100% homemade tablets, to which are added delicious fruit jellies and, in fine weather, equally successful ice creams and sorbets!

At Comptoir d'Asie, you'll find absolutely everything you need to cook exotic meals. You'll find fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as a wide variety of frozen foods (fish, egg rolls, gyozas...). You'll also find all the must-have sauces (from soy sauce to oyster sauce), noodles, spices, drinks, bags of rice from 1 to 25 kg... Outside food, you'll find cosmetics, kitchen utensils, tableware and much more. An address to remember.

Anne-Françoise Benoit has won countless awards for her talent and audacity! Succeeding her father at the head of the family business, she now offers more than 70 creations, all made from the best cocoas, from Venezuelan Otucan to Peruvian Illanca, via Brazilian Macae. Purists may prefer its dark chocolate bars or ballottines, but the milk recipes are full of inventiveness! The Caramandes®, silver medal winner at the 2017 World Chocolate Awards, is a must-try in the region. A must-try!

Since 1920, the family business Le Roy René has been delighting us with its specialties straight from the South of France, in Aix-en-Provence. Directly inspired by our Good King René, who would have received at his third wedding, according to the legend, a smile-shaped confection, commonly called today calisson, a mixture of crushed almonds, candied melon placed on a sheet of host, topped with an icing. The proposals are not limited to this one specialty, we find all kinds of nougats (pistachio, black, white) or shortbread cookies, or fruit jellies, all manufactured in a traditional way, to preserve the traditional know-how.

Epica ? "épicerie-cantine"! The (fine) grocery section features a selection of jarred products from Les Treilles Gourmandes, based in Le Lion d'Angers (foies gras, rillettes, terrines...), excellent ready-cooked dishes from their "le Bon Bag" range (cassoulet, osso bucco, sauté de veau), as well as a variety of local and non-local products, Giffard syrups, wines, jams... The canteen offers a dish of the day (tartiflette, duck parmentier), a number of pasta and salad recipes, and tempting desserts (banoffee, crumble) at very reasonable prices.

This square of caramelized nougatine coated with a blue chocolate imitating slates has celebrated its half-century of existence. In this shop-workshop, it is also available in the form of Petit-Beurre, Easter eggs, or in a dark Quernon version, with a dark chocolate coating. Don't miss the other specialities, exquisite chocolates made with ganache or praline, Mouchoirs de Cholet and others around Cointreau, macaroons, soufflés, morello cherries...

Benoît is not only renowned for its chocolates, but also for its macaroons. Here, the famous almond cake comes in a wide range of flavors: vanilla, chocolate, coffee, rose, praline, caramel, tea, raspberry, blackcurrant, pistachio, lemon... There's something for every taste. And let's not forget the other delicacies on offer: chocolate pastries, tarts, cakes, jams, marrons glacés, calissons or coffee and hot chocolate, as the place also doubles as a tea room. A moment of delight not to be missed!

If you're looking for a sweet scent of roasting that escapes from this shop, lovers of coffee, herbal teas or fine teas will be able to find their happiness. All the more so as we discover a wide range of aromas of multiple origins. But the Comptoir des Saveurs doesn't just is our smell. He also knows how to turn into a tea salon to offer us small delicacies to savour at the same time as taking time, attablé on the small terrace during the beautiful season, to taste the blends of the mistress of the places.

A pioneer of its kind, which has recently been imitated by other Franchises, V & B has attracted a clientele of beautiful alcoholic beverages, but does not necessarily frequent the downtown places in downtown: Meet friends at the end of the day at the time of the aperitif, thematic evenings from time to time, while enjoying one of the 300 beers in a long row in the family. So beer (Belgian, German, Irish, French…), but also a huge choice of wines from all regions and countries. V & B also rent the beer pumps for private evenings. The board is the one of passionate professionals and professionals who can guide you on bottles depending on your tastes and menus. An excellent address, and no problem for parking!

Always bouchées presented in beautiful boxes, offering a wide variety of products. A rich variety of semi-industrial chocolates of good repute with perhaps still too many pralines in the range. For the fine days, the ice of the house will seduce more than one papilla, with a rather classic but very tasty scent. Sorbets, cream cream (Belgium obliges!), Yogurt (more dietetic)… For those who prefer melting textures, Italian ice creams are generously served. We are here in a quality industrial chocolate, nothing to do with the low prices of the large distribution, but we are still far from the artisanal finesse of the real chocolate makers in Angers.

Opening in spring 2023, this small store at the very bottom of rue Plantagenêt offers organic, seasonal fruit and vegetables from a dozen local producers. Ultra-short circuits, just like the groceries in the back of the store: vegetable soups from Langevine, apple and pear juices, wheat flour, compotes, jams and ciders from Coteaux Nantais, bulk dried vegetables... The shop also acts as a relay point (Thursdays) for the Paniers bio solidaires project.

May they be lucky to those people in the Madeleine district. They have a small bakery marvel at home, making it jealous of many Anjou people living in the city centre. Without a drum or trumpet, Olivier Pothin makes absolutely delicious breads, with rustic crust and airy mies, Arthur's Pavement and seed stick, and boasts in addition to making all its pastries with Red Label meals. On the side of the pastries, always the original religious à with pistachio, exquisite cannelés to taste with the coffee, or the true Italian panettone, this brioche with candied fruits and orange bark. At lunchtime, sandwiches made with the good bread of the house await you. In addition, the bakery is open on Sunday morning despite its opening on Monday.
