THE STATUE OF LOUIS XVI
In memory of the events in the region between 1793 and 1794, the prefect of Loire-Lesser ordered the realization of several statues of Louis XVI. Louis XVI is represented a olive branch in the right hand and one roll of the law in the other. They recall how the «gâs of the Loroux» fought during the wars of Vendée. With the help of sculptor Dominique Molchneht, three copies were made. The Loroux-Bottereau was built in 1822 and is the oldest. One of his sisters is in Nantes and the last to Saturday (Ile et Vilaine) in the park of Caradeuc Castle. The statue that can be seen on the square of the square of the church at the Loroux-Bottereau is a copy of the original exhibited at the tourist office and classified as a historic monument. After more than two years of absence, this reproduction was placed on the base of Saint John Square on February 10, 1995.
