A coast battery that was used to defend the port of Boulogne during the First World War in Wimereux.
From a natural promontory 76 m high, the Fort de la Crèche overlooks the Nord-Pas-de-Calais Strait. It is a coastal battery, whose construction dates back to 1879. It was used to defend the port of Boulogne during the First World War. Modernized after the war with the addition of several cannons and a powerful searchlight, it is part of the famous "Atlantic Wall" built by the Germans during the Occupation. Today, an association organizes visits of this site. Bring a small lamp and warm clothes.

Venu un peu par hasard car nous avions vu le fort sur Google Maps, heureux hasard, c’est ouvert !
Le site est entièrement gérés et animés par l’Association Fort de la Crèche. Billet adulte 4€, 2 pour les enfants .

La première en autonomie, avec un plan (différentes langues) et 31 bornes informatives (4 langues).
Deuxième option, avec un guide bénévole. Passionné, il vous racontera la création, l’évolution du site à travers les années, le tout ponctué d’anecdote et d’images d’archives.
Un sacré travail de restauration, de dévouement, et d’histoire. Une façon de faire de l’histoire autrement qu’au musée et en plein air.
