The traditional, artisanal Houlle distillery, awarded the title of World's Best Juniper at the 2019 World Gin Awards, is one of only two remaining juniper distilleries in France. This typical Hauts-de-France eau-de-vie is made from a subtle blend of cereals flavored with juniper berries. It has been produced in the same way since 1812: from the granary to the stoneware jug, from the still to the oak barrel, you can follow the distillation process during a guided tour and a small tasting session.

Visite très intéressante, en particulier les explications sur les origines du genièvre, les descendants gins et whiskies, les conséquences du processus sur les saveurs finales, démontrées par la dégustation, en plus des ateliers de production (pas de production en juillet août semble-t-il, mais tout est visité néanmoins pendant cette période).
C'est un pan de la culture des Flandres historiques.

Une distillerie au top. Lionel qui nous a tout expliqué est sympathique, plein d humour et si passionné par ce qu'il fait qu'il le transmet.
Même si on ne boit pas de genièvre au départ, il titille la curiosité. Une visite à ne pas manquer!

Toujours aussi plaisante la visite. Je recommande en patois. On sens les amoureux de leur métier et du "bien fait". A découvrir le genièvre, du gin au whisky il y en a pour tous les goûts...Produits artisanaux de qualité. Je recommande

Tickets were €7.50, extremely good value for money.
The tour included a short film about the distillery, intricate details of the genevre sold, a gin tasting session of all variety, we got a small gin bottle each as part of the ticket, a highly detailed tour of the distillery & a visit to the shop for your own affordable and high quality treasures!
