The Pit 6 will be chosen as a concentration pit at the time of nationalisation. Important modernization work will be undertaken as early as 1951. It will become the largest concentration unit in the mining basin. The wheel headframe then allowed 13 tons of coal per minute. In September 1959 General De Gaulle made a descent on the bottom. In the 60 s, the pit employs 3405 people on the bottom, and 337 in the day. September 6, 1979 marks the end of the operation. It is the last ditch in the western mining area. The well will be clean in 1982 after the completion of the gasification tests.
