Wellington underground quarry in Arras, used as a shelter for soldiers, now more immersive and interactive, to visit.

November 1916, the British prepare the offensive that will take place on April 9, 1917 at 5:30 am. Their idea: to have the New Zealand tunnel boring machines connect the city's chalk quarries to create a veritable network of underground barracks. Go down to a depth of 20 metres to discover this strategic place which was also the daily life of the soldiers of the Great War. In April, don't miss the annual ceremony that pays tribute to the British and Commonwealth soldiers who took part in the Battle of Arras.

It's amazing to see the trenchline and how close the lines of engagement really were. Lots of information on the Canadian involvement. It's worth a visit, although the tunnels can only be viewed via guided tour.

Nice place to visit. Very informative. Keep something warm on, for underground it is cold.
